Exploration Place

This contemporary science center, children’s museum and 20-acre park are located at the confluence of the Little and Big Arkansas Rivers. The Landside Building was constructed with architectural cast-in-place concrete. The Island Building is named because it is surrounded by water on all sides.

The facility houses ten permanent exhibits including Kansas in Miniature and an Aviation Museum. All the exhibits are meant to be explored and experience using all five senses. They have hosted over 30 different traveling exhibits including Dinosaurs Unearthed and CSI: The Experience. There is an 18-hole Minigolf course on the grounds and the park venue includes wetlands habitat, adventure play yard, picnic groves and Festival Plaza.
