Union Pacific Railroad

The railroad had an existing concrete box culvert for drainage under their track that was deteriorating and needed replaced. They couldn’t shut down the line for construction so they chose to install three 72″ diameter 50 foot long steel pipes by the Jack & Bore method to handle their drainage needs and then to fill the existing concrete culvert with concrete. Once the steel pipes were installed concrete headwalls and aprons were constructed at both ends and the drainage ditch was redirected to the new pipes.
