Dondlinger and Sons Construction is proud of its legacy of quality and innovation. Founded by N.L. Dondlinger in 1898 in Claflin, Kansas, Dondlinger & Sons Construction started small commercial and residential projects. In 1925, N.L. moved his wife and four sons from Claflin to Wichita. Since then, Dondlinger Construction has built some of the most unique and recognizable landmarks in Kansas; the first ever Lamella dome constructed for Henry Levitt Arena, now known as Charles Koch Arena. The cable stay bridges at The Keeper of the Plains are the only ones in Kansas, as well as the tallest building in Kansas – The Epic Center. Today, Dondlinger continues to set the standard for innovation and quality in the Midwest.
Dondlinger & Sons Construction Company was founded by N.L. Dondlinger in Claflin, KS in 1898.
N.L. Dondlinger moved his family to Wichita in 1925. Our jobs included mostly small commercial projects and finer homes.
Dondlinger becomes a Charter Member of the Associated General Contractors of Kansas (AGC).
Dondlinger starts construction on Henry Levitt Arena, a 10,000-seat arena - the first Lamella Dome ever constructed.
Construction on the Eisenhower Presidential Library begins in Abilene, Kansas.
In 1975 the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce presented Dondlinger Construction with the "Over the Years" Award.
Construction begins on the tallest office building in the state of Kansas (24-story Epic Center in Downtown Wichita).
In 1989 Dondlinger enters the bridge business. Nine bridge projects are completed in the first year with the new division.
Dondlinger Construction breaks ground at their new office building where we are still located to this day.
In 2000, Dondlinger completed construction on the Exploration Place. This project was the winner of the AGC of Kansas Judges Choice Award & the Award of Excellence.
We completed the Commerce Bank Headquarters in April of 2005, and it was the winner of the AGC of Kansas Judge's Choice Award.
We began construction on the Central Rail Corridor in 2005 and completed it in 2009. The project consisted of raising two miles of railroad track above the roadway to help improve traffic throughout the City of Wichita.
This Wichita icon was awarded Project of the Year - Structures, by the Kansas Chapter of American Public Works Association.
In 2009, Dondlinger Construction completes the largest project in the history of Sedgwick County, the INTRUST Bank Arena (Winner of AGC of Kansas Judge's Choice Award).
Completed in 2012, The Lincoln Street Bridge and Dam project earned the APWA Public Works Project of the Year.
In 2013, Dondlinger joins an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Program).
In 2017, Dondlinger added a Facility Services Division to our list of services.
In 2019, Dondlinger rented a space in Spring Hill, KS to begin our process of adding a Kansas City Division.
In 2023, Dondlinger celebrated 125 years in business.
